Title:  Southbound Manifest Past the MFA Elevator
Description:  The elevator was running at full blast today, as evidenced by the dust coming out of the grain dryer exhaust. That's when UP Train MTRLI 02 snuck up on me as I gawked through town and looked over to realize the gates were down, so I headed up the embankment and shot this from the truck at a crossing.

Title:  Northbound Manifest
Description:  I headed up to North Dexter to see what was shakin'. Nothing, except for the trains arriving and departing. I chased UP Train MHOYC 01 up the road to get a shot over a harvested corn field that was planted in winter wheat. Good to see a yard crew had a good sense of humor and put UP 9480 with 9479 and 9657.

Title:  Wying UP 5131 SD70M on South Broadway Street
Description:  The unit to be placed on the front of UP Train MPFNL 04 pokes out of the yard blocking Ditch Road as they back up after throwing the switch. One locomotive at a time can be wyed in Poplar Bluff these days. We were on the way to get the vehicles serviced and were surprised to see this in the middle of the highway.

Title:  Frisco Tunnels
Description:  Looking Southwest through the Old SLSF Tunnels under North Main Street. These were part of the Frisco Hoxie Branch until 1965 when the branch was abandoned. There was a dead body dumped down here a few years back, so watch where you step if you ever want to take a look at these.

Description:  Viewed from the Old U.S. Route 67 Bridge is UP Train ZMQDU 03 underway a few miles north of Poplar Bluff headed up the UP De Soto Sub. You can see why this subdivision is nicknamed "The Buffalo Trail". I'd always wanted to see a train up here and now I have!

Description:  This unit is destined for Mount Vernon, IL and NRE in a few days to be rebuilt into a NRE 2GS14B Genset FWWR 2014. It was supposed to be at Valley Junction, IL at 3 this afternoon--it didn't make it. This oldie was being handled dead in tow 6 cars from the rear of UP Train MNLAS 03. I saw it last night and was hoping something like this happened to it.

Description:  Headed north at Stoddard County Road 637 was UP Train GEAMRB 08 with a fine looking GE AC4400CW SP 373 in the lead of two other UP AC's. Dad and I watched about 30 cars run the crossing gates while he was stopped. We became aware of the train and we hunted it down on our way back from Illinois.
