Title:  Southbound UP Loaded Grain Train
Description:  A UP Trackage Rights Train runs over the MNA through Adrian past the old elevator and through Main Street with a long train snaked down into the sag at the north end of town. The crossing is torn up on both sides, having been replaced about 2 weeks ago. Main Street is being completely renovated in Adrian.

Problematic Track
Title:  Problematic Track
Description:  KCS had a moderate derailment here late last week. I can imagine how this might have happened, as evidenced by the spots in the track where virtually no spikes held the rails to the tie on the field side of the rail. You can see the new panel track installed after the derailment, identified by the joint bars. But, things happen and you simply can't watch the whole railroad at once.

Southbound KCS Grain Train Derailment
Title:  Southbound KCS Grain Train Derailment
Description:  One of the "Belle Hop" Grain Trains derailed 8 loads of wheat late last week here on the KCS Pittsburg Sub. near MP 48 south of the 315th Street Crossing, which is at MP 48.17. They are laying in the edge of a Sunflower Field next to the ROW. Quite a mess. I highly doubt any of the covered hopper cars will be salvaged, as most of them look like the car on the left, so I figure they might all be scrap candidates. Most of the ARI Cars involved were built in April 2007, only 5 months old. The mainline is in the foreground, this view is looking northeast. The derailment was probably caused by a rolled rail in the curve. There were no injuries.

Title:  New KCS Crossing Signal
Description:  Here's one of the new Safetran Systems Crossing Signals that KCS has recently put up. You'll notice the bracket for the gate in wind is now a curved piece of tube metal. They finally figured out how to keep the gate in the bracket when the wind is blowing and the crossing arms are going up. We spent an over an hour at the tracks today and didn't see anything.

Description:  Coming through KCUS was BNSF Train Q CHISBD6 26 with 3 Warbonnets leading. Just a small slice of the Old Santa Fe Days. These 3 ATSF-Style units were at Ethel, MO, between La Plata and Bucklin at 1500. They are shown here at 1730, meaning they came halfway across the state in 2 and a half hours. "The Super Fleet lives on...well sort of."
