UP 814 - ALCO FEF-1 4-8-4 Steam Locomotive
Title:  UP 814 - ALCO FEF-1 4-8-4 Steam Locomotive
Description:  The first order of 20 4-8-4 Locomotives UP 800-819, were delivered in 1937. These got the Class FEF-1 and were designed mostly by UP's Motive Power Group to have 77" drivers, 24.5"x32" cylinders, an operating boiler pressure of 300 PSI, and a weight of 465,000 pounds resulting in a tractive effort of 63,611 pounds.

These got a little better with the FEF-2, and maxed out with the FEF-3 class, finishing up with UP 844 in December 1944, bringing an end to new UP Steam Locomotives. The 814 is the lowest numbered remaining example of UP 4-8-4's. There is also the UP 833 in Ogden, UT, the 838 in Cheyenne which is the parts supply for the famous operating 844.
