Northbound CP Manifest Train |
| Description: |
An Ex-Mo-Pac, now ICE SD40-2 leads a CITX SD40-2 rebuild and a DME SD40-2 out of town, leaving the Truman Drawbridge in the distance on CP Train 577-09. Man this consist sounded great. The ICE 6454 started life as MP 3228 in 9-76, and later became MP 6012, and was known as a SD40-2C on the MOP, C for coal, as these were in pool service with the BN and DRGW, and were equipped with dynamic brakes, rooftop rotary beacons, some had MARS lights on the nose (this one did), and were ballasted heavier than standard MP SD40-2s. It later passed to the UP and went onto the ICE in the 90's. Looking good for a 35 year old engine. |

Climbing Blue Valley Hill on the KCS Pittsburg Sub. at 56th Street in notch 8 is a trio of SD40s on a KCS grain load off the CP at Kansas City, running as KCS Train G-KCAD-10. It's been a while since I stood directly over a full throttle 3 pack of SD40s. This train had a Candy Apple Red SOO SD60 on the point up in Iowa yesterday, but this was a suitable consolation prize. |
