Charleston Jct.
Signal cabinet at Charleston Jct. which dates back to the Missouri Pacific Days. At one time this was known as CP D191 on the MP, later UP Chester Sub., but in during the 1990s the line from Dexter to Poplar Bluff was renumbered, and so were the control points.

In the old days the line was numbered from St. Louis, Poplar Bluff was MP 165. The line this way was then numbered higher, continuing up from 166. This was 191. When the UP redesignated this as the Hoxie Sub. from the Chester Sub., they took 166 at Poplar Bluff, then numbered down from that, arriving at 141 for this location today. The UP Station Code (Circ-7) for here is still XD024, reflecting that it's 24 miles out of Poplar Bluff. Confused? This location was named Charleston Jct. because it's where the main split, one going north to join the Cotton Belt main towards their own rails at the Mississippi River Bridge, and the other ended up in Charleston, and has since been cut back to Miner, then Sikeston, and now all the way to Morehouse, with plans to rip it out all the way to Essex, MO. Shot on black and white print film.
