Here's UP 107, the only B23-7 with an EMD Cab, applied by Mo-Pac after a wreck at Gorham, IL in May 1978 when the unit was only 5 months old. It was used as a local unit in Bluff back in 2002. Sadly, it was retired on April 26, 2005. It became a rebuild core, and was rebuilt into RP20GE Genset UPY 2678 in July 2007, which still rides around on this very frame and trucks. An ex-MP Unit comes to a stop in front of the ex-MP Depot on the De Soto Sub. after coming down from St. Louis when the depot was still used by UP as the Crew Change Point. Back when Smiley Container was to the right, you could be blocked in the parking lot if two trains showed up at the same time. |

Hard to believe I got to ride and operate them at 12 years old, and now here I sit with every last unit in the photo gone from the UP. 1611 is still operating in the NRE Lease Fleet as NREX 2902. |
