UP Local Assigned Locomotives  Contributor's Pick!
Here's UP 107, the only B23-7 with an EMD Cab, applied by Mo-Pac after a wreck at Gorham, IL in May 1978 when the unit was only 5 months old. It was used as a local unit in Bluff back in 2002. Sadly, it was retired on April 26, 2005. It became a rebuild core, and was rebuilt into RP20GE Genset UPY 2678 in July 2007, which still rides around on this very frame and trucks. See a picture of it here: http://www.trainweb.org/gensets/railpower/upy/2678.html .

steven langsford General AWSOME PHOTO!!!! IS IT STILL RUNNING?? 10/3/2006 11:38:45 PM
Ron Moraca General Beautiful catch, Zach. I found a picture of the Genset switcher it was turned into, but the model number is RP20BD, not RP20GE, unless it's a typo. The UPY #2678 is correct. 8/5/2008 5:30:20 PM
Jody Moore General The unit is now UPY 2678, that is correct. The RP20GE model designation is UP's way of telling that it has a GE frame instead of an EMD frame. Railpower officially calls it an RP20BD regardless of what the core unit is. 10/10/2008 2:34:56 PM
